“The Wendy Project tells a moving story about not only the loss of a family member but also the loss of innocence as children become adults.”
The graphic novel is Peter Pan in a modern day setting. Wendy finds herself torn between reality and fantasy after an accident which led to the disappearance of her youngest brother, Micheal. It explores the stages of grief, loss denial and forgiving oneself. It also portrays how trauma can lead to children growing up too early.
Fish’s illustrations in this graphic novel is absolutely stunning. It is mostly black and white with a flow of colors that worked into the story beautifully.
